There has never been a better time to consider mentoring someone.

During this CoVid-19 crisis, we have all faced unprecedented change, disruption and uncertainty in our lives. Most of the world is gradually emerging from months of lockdown. Now, protests against racial injustice and the lack of equal opportunities for many are happening globally.

I was proud to receive my certificate last week for the Cherie Blair Foundation Mentor Alumni after completing the Mentoring Women in Business Programme. My own mentoring experience was hugely rewarding, and working with my mentee and her business was a huge privilege.  I learnt many good things from this experience especially how a mentoring relationship can support the mentee during difficult times.

A few years ago I was invited to The World Child and Youth Forum (which became the Global Child Forum) held at The Swedish Royal Palace, Stockholm. Bob Collymore CEO Safaricom, was one of the esteemed speakers and spoke passionately about the importance of mentoring and suggested that if everyone in that audience could go out and mentor just one person, what an enormous network of opportunities would be created! His speech had even more impact as his own mentee was in the audience attending the event too. His comment from that speech stayed with me ever since.

So, I now urge you to consider mentoring too.  If you can offer your own insight, expertise and more importantly open up and share your business networks, what huge possibilities and how many good opportunities could be created?
Just one mentee each could change the way our society operates for the future.
